So Long Farewell….final class of the year

It’s this point in the year

that gets frustrating

the children are getting antsy

they’d rather be outside

(as would I on some days)

its the point in the year where I think

I’m tired, I’m not sure I want to do this anymore

but the mission still exists

even on this last wrap up day

(regardless of the program you have, the curriculum you use)

the goal remains the same

to make disciples

and send them out into the world

whether they are 8 or 80

to spread the good news

Our final day of class

is fun

a review of all we learned

a re-sharing of the children’s favorite bible stories, songs and prayers.

with them getting chance to take turns choosing

their projects are gathered

small gifts are given

and they are sent home

and we

are often left wondering if we made any difference in the lives of these children of God

I assure you

we have

the kids won’t remember everything

and some

won’t remember much of anything

but my guess is

that as a teacher you’ve touched the life and heart  of at least one of your students this year

and that alone

makes what we do

worth doing.
